10. PB4L

This week our PB4L focus was on showing respect in the library.  Our lessons have focused on:

  • Using an inside voice;
  • Reading quietly.

11. Wellbeing

This week at school we have focused on kindness. One of the best things we can do for our wellbeing is to be kind or give to others (our time, actions and words). As well as strengthening our connections with others, research shows that kindness and giving makes us happier.

We talked about:

  • What is ‘being kind’?
  • What sorts of things can we do to be kind?
  • What do people do for us that is helpful, kind or loving?
  • How does it feel when someone is kind to us?
  • How does it feel when we are kind?

We talked about how kindness is like a muscle that gets stronger the more we use it, and that it tends to be contagious. If we smile at someone, they often smile back! Other kind acts are the same. When we’re kind to others, we encourage them to be kind too. We watched the Colour The World video which helped show students this flow-on affect.

12.  Calendar Orders and School Photos

All of our students have worked hard on their calendar art. Look out for calendar art order forms which your child/ren will bring home next week. All ordering is done online. You can purchase calendars, cards and diaries. These make gorgeous Christmas presents.

Class and Individual Photos: Photolife is currently making necessary changes to the class photos taken at the end of last term. We will notify you as soon as they are ready for purchase.

13.  Melanoma Awareness Mufti Day – Friday 23 October

How can you Get Spotted? Wear spotty clothes to school on Friday 23 October! Melanoma NZ encourages everyone to practise sun smart behaviour by wearing our best sunnies, a wide-brimmed hat,  long-sleeves and long pants. So let’s get creative, have fun and most importantly, stay safe in the sun and look after the skin you are in. Gold coin donations go to support this worthy cause.

Kind regards,

Lorene Hurd

Principal
