1. School Drop Off and Pick Up
|
A reminder that students are expected to be at school between 8:30 and 8:45 am every morning. Please ensure your child has a great start to their day and arrives at school by this time.
In Term 3 we ask that parents/caregivers continue to drop their children at the school gates in the morning to help reduce contact tracing and foster independence in our students. Staff will be present at all gates to assist with drop off.
Parents/caregivers are welcome to come to the classroom to pick up their children at 3:00 pm.
|
2. School Accounts & Payroll Administrator – Applications Welcome
|
We are seeking an experienced and capable part-time School Accounts & Payroll (Novopay) Administrator to join the Sunnybrae Administration Team. If you are interested, please send your cv and a cover letter to Jobs@sunnybrae.school.nz by Friday 16 July 2021.
|
3. Sunnybrae Cultural Project
|
On Thursday night our Community Engagement team had the pleasure of working with our Polish and Russian families. Members of each family shared their stories and selected images to represent their culture. These will be used to create a series of panels at the front entrance of the school that represent the different cultures of the people within our school community. In Term 3 Week 1, we look forward to meeting with our Filipino and Japanese families. Each cultural group in the school will receive an email invite closer to the time of their meeting.

REMINDER
Our Annual Y4-6 Cross Country will take place on Thursday 9 September. Training will begin Week 1, Term 3.
Training will take place on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings.

6. Sunnybrae Uniform Reminders
|
It would be appreciated if you could ensure that all items of your child’s uniform are named. Over the holidays, please also check that your children have not come home with an item of someone else’s uniform, as sometimes happens.
A reminder that the wearing of the Sunnybrae uniform at school is compulsory for all students. The correct uniform is to be worn in its entirety and must be in good condition; clean and in good repair. Items worn for additional warmth during winter terms underneath polo shirts must not be visible.
Due to the colder weather, you may want to consider purchasing a polar fleece or Sunnybrae jacket. Uniforms can be purchased directly from NZ Uniforms store located at:

7. PTA Fundraising Initiative – Are you able to support us?
|
In Term 3, our Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is running an exciting fundraising initiative – The Sunnybrae Normal School PTA Raffle 2021 – 20 days of prizes! All money raised will go towards a permanent covered turf structure to be built at the back of the school.
We will have fantastic prizes all set out in calendar format, one prize per day for 20 days. You buy a ticket, enter the draw and every day a new prize is drawn. If you win a prize and the calendar hasn’t finished, you get placed back into the draw for another chance to win something else!
How can you help?
We are currently looking for people to contribute $50 vouchers for our raffle. For example, you might like to purchase a $50 voucher from a store of your choice and donate it to our raffle. If you would like to gift a voucher to Sunnybrae Normal School please contact our Deputy Principal, Karen Rodger – krodger@sunnybrae.school.nz or drop a voucher at the office. Any support would be greatly appreciated.

Semester One Basketball has come to an end and the four senior teams who competed across 2 grades displayed improving skills, great sportsmanship and were excellent team players. We are proud of every one of them and what they have achieved over the first 2 terms. The Second Semester begins on August 19th and we can’t wait to see the teams in action next term.
Special congratulations to the Year 5 and 6 Stingers team for finishing 2nd in Grade One.

Lots of work has gone into the removal of unwanted plants and rubbish. Now is the time to plant native seedlings.
This year we plant below the sportsfield of former Hateo Petra, entry is at 60 Tonar Street, up the concrete driveway. There will be signs in place to guide you. Good shoes are a must, a spade and gloves useful. We hope you bring the kids along and take part in this exciting new restoration project.
