NZ Maths Week is a great time to celebrate all things maths!
On the NZ Maths page there are challenges and games that can be played over the week. Take a look at the family section which includes many different ways you can support your child in maths at home. Or check out Maths Kete for fun and games.
Remember to get your child to log onto Mathseeds or Mathletics
Here are some more ideas
How will you and your family include some fun maths learning at home?

Our Year 4/5 classes recently visited the Auckland Museum as part of their ‘Our World’ Unit of inquiry. Each class spent time in a programme focusing on connecting with their local volcanoes, exploring different types of volcanic eruptions and participating in a rock sorting challenge. Learners were also put to the test to see how they would prepare for a volcanic eruption. A big thank you to all of our parent helpers for their assistance with supervision on the day.

6. Celebrating Success at Sunnybrae
|
Rosie Beck (R20) recently had one of her stories published in an edition of the Toitoi magazine. Toitoi is a journal for young writers and artists that celebrates the creative spirit of young New Zealanders. The photo below is of Rosie proudly displaying her story titled ‘Professor Ding Dong’. Well done Rosie!

7. Sunnybrae Cultural Project
|
Our Sunnybrae Cultural project continues to be a huge success! On Wednesday our Community Engagement team met with our Latin American families. They shared stories, key images and words that represent their culture. Their ideas will be worked on by an artist and will form one of the panels on the fence of the Junior playground on Sunnybrae Road.
On Thursday 12 August we will meet with our Korean families at 2:30 pm.
Special thanks to Yukako Sato, pictured below with her daughter Miu for providing her thoughts about our recent Japanese evening.
“As there are many cultures in one classroom, it benefits all of the children to know each other. I took part in the Japanese Cultural evening. It was fun talking about my culture. I don’t usually talk about Japan much anymore. The children who were present at the Japanese evening listened to many interesting stories. From this experience, our children learned new information about our culture.”

To download and print more sheets go to www.yummyfruit.co.nz and click on School Sticker Promo. Participating schools get a share of $200,000 worth of sports gear, depending on the number of stickers collected. All sheets are due to the school office by Friday 24 September.
