4. Yummy Sticker Promotion
|
A reminder that our school is participating in the Yummy Sticker promotion again this year. We are asking you to collect yummy cut-out labels from bags (each cut-out label is worth 10 stickers) and individual Yummy apple stickers. Yummy apples are available from New World, PAK’nSAVE and participating Four Square stores.
A collection sheet was sent home with the eldest child earlier in the term. Please ask your child to return these sheets to the office as you complete them and pick up a new one. You can also download the sheets from http:www.yummyfruit.co.nz/schoolstickerpromo
Participating schools get a share of $200,000 worth of sports gear, depending on the number of stickers collected. The promotion ends at the end of Term 3 so please keep collecting.

As part of our Year 2/3 inquiry unit, Art Everywhere, we have been looking at the power of art. We learned how we can express our feelings, thoughts and emotions through art. In Room 8, our tamariki have completed a collaborative project, inspired by Vincent van Gogh. Here is our interpretation of “Starry Night”.
|
|
Upon completion of this project, our tamariki shared their thoughts and feelings about the art:
“We all used different colours and our painting looks super cool!” Ammon McIntyre
“I like it because we tried our best” Isla Masters
“I like it because everyone’s work is so unique.” Helena Darke
“I like it because we all worked together.” Valeti Moala
“I wish we could do another collaborative art like this again.” Kiara Puna
This was an experience where everyone learned to demonstrate our school value of Cooperation and Excellence and feel proud of what they can achieve together as a team.

Netball – urgently seeking Year 6 netballers!
We are currently seeking at least two more Year 6 netballers (male or female) to join our teams. You can expect excellent coaching, great team cohesion and support from team members.
If you are keen, have a healthy appetite for strong competition and are able to commit to one practice at school and compete on Saturday mornings, please email Ms Snellaert in the first instance at ssnellaert@sunnybrae.school.nz

We are seeking ‘expressions of interest’ for students wishing to play Flippa Ball in Term 2. Games are played on Sunday afternoons from 1:00pm – 7:30pm at the AUT Millennium, 17 Antares Place, Mairangi Bay. If your child is keen to compete, they will need to be a strong and competent swimmer, enjoy healthy competion and be part of a team sport. Please email Ms Snellaert in the first instance on ssnellaert@sunnybrae.school.nz for a permission slip.

Softball
Some students from Sunnybrae play for the Bandits Softball Club. Last Saturday was their last game of the season. Here are some comments from members of team Bandits: Tamaku Howell’s thoughts: “…I chose softball as a sport because my family loves softball so I thought I would give it a try! Softball teaches you to be a good player and how to catch a ball in a glove. My favorite position is pitcher.”
Declan Kamalie adds: “…I chose softball because it is a good team sport and allows kids with different skills to take part. Softball allows you to cheer each other on to do better and best of all, to hit the ball out of the park! You can expect loads of fun playing softball. This was my first season playing and it was great! Why not give it a go, I guarantee you will love it!”
Noah Moata’ane responds with: “…I chose softball because my older cousin played it and I wanted to play the same sport as him. You can expect to be kept busy playing softball. There are different positions and my favourite is catcher and hitting home runs. Two benefits for playing softball is it’s good for any fitness level and you play in a team!”
Well done guys!
