Community Engagement Focus Groups
We have thoroughly enjoyed meeting with the many different cultural groups that make Sunnybrae the diverse and unique school that it is. Thank you to those of you who have given up your valuable time to come along and share aspects of your culture. We are excited to be working with the talented artist, Rix Meaker who will design and paint panels to be placed along the front fence of Sunnybrae Road adjacent to the Junior Playground.
The next cultural group we are meeting with is the New Zealand/ European Pakeha group on Wednesday 21 September at 7:00 – 8:00 pm in the school staffroom. We would love for you to come and share your ideas with us.

Congratulations to the top 3 placegetters (listed below) along with all those students who have been selected to compete in the Zone Day on Thursday 15 September.

Year 6 Camp
Despite the wet start, our Year 6 students had a wonderful time at YMCA Camp Shakespear on Monday to Wednesday this week. Working as teams, they completed activities such as orienteering, rock climbing, archery and downhill skateboarding. Tongan Language Week
Mālō e leilei. Our Pasifika cultural group enjoyed making lolly leis to celebrate Tongan Language Week. The Year 6s who were away at camp will get to enjoy this next week. Mrs Ngata wore traditional Tongan dress each day which sparked much discussion and interest throughout the school.
|
|
|
Today the children celebrated Tongan Language Week by wearing traditional costumes to school. It was a lovely way to end our week.

|
Māori Language Week: Te Whare Tapawhā
Next Week is Māori Language Week! We will be celebrating this by focusing on the wellbeing of our students, staff and community by looking at different elements of our health.
