Parent Teacher Conferences & Goal Setting
8th and 9th March 2023 We are holding our Sunnybrae Parent Teacher Conferences and Goal Setting on the 8th and 9th March. We hope that all families will attend these meetings so that you can share your insights on how we can best support your child. Teachers are interested in learning about what success looks like for your child, what supports their learning, and any potential barriers to the learning process. Teachers will share how your child has settled into their new class and routines. Parents and teachers will collaboratively set learning goals for your child for the coming term.
Please be aware that children will need to be picked up at 12.30pm on Wednesday the 8th March.
YMCA will be offering after-school care. CLICK HERE TO BOOK
Bookings Please book an appointment with your child’s teacher. You will be able to book a 10 minute interview. If you have more than one child, we recommend that you leave a 10 minute gap between appointments to allow yourself time to move between classrooms.
Bookings are now open for both of these evenings and can be made electronically through www.schoolinterviews.co.nz using the School Event Code hcjcy. If you need support to make a booking online please see your child’s teacher.
If you need language support please fill in this Google form so that we can arrange a translator.

The Sunnybrae Inquiry Framework Throughout this year, our Sunnybrae teams (Year 1, Year 2, Year 3/4 and Year 5/6) will embark on rich learning journeys based around the same 6 themes.
The Themes 1. Identity and Wellbeing 2. Histories and Locations 3. Creativity Curiosity and Expression 4. STEAM 5. Organisations, Processes and Systems 6. Our World
The themes have been designed to ensure all 8 subject areas of the curriculum can be integrated into the learning with a particular focus on Social Sciences, Science, Technology, The Arts and Health. Each team will teach their own unique units of inquiry under these themes, applicable to their age group. Students thrive on being immersed in these exciting units; it is a powerful way to develop their understandings, knowledge and skills, as well as the Learner Qualities. You will receive updates throughout the year about the units your child is participating in. It is always appreciated when families extend the learning of these units into their homes.
Teachers are implementing the new curriculum area: Aotearoa New Zealand Histories during 2023 and this will be taught primarily through units of inquiry, but also within other aspects of learning at Sunnybrae.

Swimming Feels like summer at the Sunnybrae Pool. All smiles from Room 13 as they enjoy Mrs Knight joining her class for a dip at their swimming lesson on Thursday.
The pool will be open for lunchtime swimming to the first 30 students that arrive at the pool. If your child would like to swim at this time, we highly recommend to pack their togs and towel everyday.

Ways you can help… To make the Family Fun Fest a great success the PTA always needs lots of people on the day to help set up stalls, put up gazebos, man the carnival side-show activities, sell food, cook sausages and clean up at the end of the evening.
PARENT HELPER If you can assist in any way please click here to register your details on the Parent Helper form. Thank you!
CHOCOLATE BAR DONTATION Back by popular demand will be the famous Chocolate Coin Toss game at the Family Fun Fest. We are asking each family to donate one king size bar of chocolate as a prize for this successful carnival game. Chocolate bars can be dropped at the school office anytime.
PROVIDE HOME BAKING Always a popular stall with the kids! If you can help with home baking for us to sell on the night at our dessert stall please add your name to the Parent Helper form.
Covered Turf Area We are nearing completion of this project and would appreciate your contribution to the build costs. The weather issues of late have held up construction and the contractors are working hard to meet the deadline so we can use it on the night of the Family Fun Fest.
