Celebrating the Performing Arts
|
|
|
|
The Year 3/4 Team has had a focus on Performance Art. Students have learnt about the elements of dance including body awareness, space and time and have had opportunities to express themselves in creative ways. To end our unit, an instructor from Dance Curriculum held workshops and taught the classes a choreographed dance. Students will have the opportunity to perform to their peers and caregivers on Friday 18 August at 2:20pm in the school hall. We do hope you are able to join us to watch the dances at this revised time. It has been wonderful to see the students build their skills and confidence in ways to express themselves and perform to an audience.

Health Review Thank you to the 134 parents who completed the health survey. As a result of this feedback and that from the teaching staff and Year 5 and 6 students the following recommendations were made and are being actioned.
- With 42.5% of parents not aware of Mitey it will be important to lift its profile in our school community e.g. providing snippets about mental health education in our newsletters.
- With only 17.9% of parents very aware of wellbeing strategies, including mindfulness, being taught at our school the Wellbeing team are to provide snippets for the newsletter about activities being used in the classrooms to promote mindfulness and wellbeing so parents feel informed and potentially use similar strategies at home.
- That teachers make explicit how the strategies and/or activities they are teaching are related to student mindfulness and wellbeing.
- Continue to put information in the newsletter about the importance of regular attendance on students wellbeing.
- Ensure that the following activities occur on a regular basis and that we inform our community of these at the time they are undertaken.
– Scooter training – Safe walking discussions – Cycle safety for older students – Walk to school days
- Provide an overview of the programmes that foster health education and student wellbeing with our community as well as new parents on their child’s entry to school.

Netball Coach Farewell Thanks to Jessica Gatman for making such a positive impact as the coach for the Year 5 Girls netball team during the 2023 season. Coaches like her play a crucial role in not only teaching the technical aspects of the sport but also in fostering teamwork, sportsmanship, and a love for the game among the young players. Jessica has done an excellent job in creating an enjoyable and supportive environment for the girls to thrive as a team. We wish her and her family a safe return to the UK.
