There, right before my eyes was a loud, dirty waterfall splashing into a lake. I could hear birds chirping and I could also hear the majestic trees rustling in the refreshing shiny, cold breeze. There was a strong scent of clean air with a hint of muddy water. I lurched my hand towards the luscious, smooth, shiny rock as the freezing water charged to the rock. Luca, Room 16
There in the forest was a sound of water. It was a magnificent sight with fluffy moss and water like a clear blob of glue dripping from a ledge. The breeze among the cold air with the wind, fits in with the calm relaxing sight. Peace filled the air with the smell of berries. William, Room 16
While I was standing in the storm I could hear the howling wind. When I walked I looked like a centipede because I was struggling so much. When the leaves rustled, it was vibrating like a hawk diving down. I could see the rain smashing on the pavement. It was a terrifying sight. I could feel the rain bashing on my skin. It felt like a guided missile on turbo-speed. Nathan Z, Room 16
There, in the forest was the biggest, sparlest coolest waterfall you could ever have seen. At the bottom lay yucky green water. All of the water came tumbling down, the more water that came, the louder it became. On the side of the waterfall there were mossy sticky rocks glimmering in the sunlight. I could smell the damp forest and feel the trees and leaves falling gracefully down. Arlo, Room 7
There, in the forest was a shimmering lake, trees were living on the side of the sparkling lake. Filling the canopy, trees grew tall. Lime green moss spread across the rigid rock. A magnificent waterfall latin between two large rocks. The waterfall was crashing into the sunlit lake. From a distance splashing could be heard along with the song birds chirping. Vegetation was slowly spreading next to the waterfall. Matthew, Room 7
I saw green moss on the rough rocks. Water gushed like lightning at an incredible speed. Sunlight beamed across the muddy lake. I heard the burning sun and water pushing and exploding, the wind swaying. I smelt muddy brown water rippling across the lake. I tasted air and water droplets falling from the sky. I felt rocks and water, moss and plants. It was damp, wet and squishy with new people and tall big light green trees. The sky was filled with clean fresh air. Brandon, Room 7

Stop, Drop & Go Thanks to everyone for supporting our Stop, Drop and Go Zone at the Sunnybrae Road bus bay. Our student council members have done a great job of assisting students exiting vehicles and keeping the flow of traffic moving. Please remember this area is a No Parking Zone in the mornings. There is angle parking on Sunnybrae Road if you need to park and accompany your child to their classroom.
|
|
At our other entrances on Northgrove and Ellen Ave, we are asking that all parents/caregivers be considerate of our many neighbours by ensuring that you leave their driveways clear when you are dropping off or picking up your child/children. Please use common sense by obeying the road rules, and do not stop or park on yellow lines or use the berms to park your car. The crossing monitors are there to ensure safe crossing of Sunnybrae Road, so please follow their instructions.

Attendance Absence: In the event of your child being unable to attend school due to illness, please notify the Attendance Office on the morning of the absence. This can be done easily via the quick link on our school website http://www.sunnybrae.school.nz, on the school app (Kiwischools Connect) or by phoning the office on 443 5058 to leave a message.
Holidays in term times: Should time away from school be required, for reasons other than sickness or for a duration of longer than 5 school days, then a formal letter of request should be addressed to the Principal. Please forward your dates and a reason that your child will be on leave from school to office@sunnybrae.school.nz.
Appointments: As classes are often outside of the classroom for break times, sports activities or library and assembly sessions, it can take some time to locate students when parents come to the office without notifying us in advance. If your child needs to be absent from school for a period of time during the day, please advise the classroom teacher before 9:00 am on the day of, giving the reason for the absence, the time of departure and the estimated time of return to school. Any student leaving school must be collected from the school office and signed out by a parent or guardian. Upon return to school, the student must report back to the office and sign in before returning to class.
