Today is World Kindness Day. To celebrate this day at school we made sneaky thank you cards.
Kindness and gratitude are linked to overall happiness and just like sharing or turn-taking, they are social skills that need to be learned and practised. Thank you cards help children to think about and express what they are grateful for, and the surprise element makes the exercise more novel, unique and fun! The idea of hiding the ‘thank you card’ does two things – it makes it a little more fun and it makes the child’s gratitude intrinsic. They don’t need to see the person’s reaction to enjoy doing it.
At home you might like to get your child to make sneaky thank you cards for friends and family members.
