This week we would like to welcome the following new students and their families to our school community: Nia Mackinnon and Freya Zhuang in Room 3 and Armani Bate in Room 5.

|
The safety and wellbeing of our students and staff is our top priority. To provide a school environment that’s as safe and healthy as possible, Sunnybrae is working very hard and following the Government’s Health requirements and guidance.
Attendance has clear benefits for all of our students at Sunnybrae. Regular attendance at school:
- Improves student learning
- Improves student wellbeing
- Has benefits that outweigh the risks
Sunnybrae Normal School mitigates risk as follows:
- Requiring all staff to wear a mask
- Year 4 and up wear face masks indoors
- Open all windows and doors for good ventilation
- Existing hand washing routines in place. Wash your hands with soap and water often (for at least 20 seconds) and dry thoroughly.
- Use of hand sanitiser as part of daily routines in all classrooms
- Students taught to sneeze and cough into their elbow or cover their mouth and nose with tissues. Put tissues in a bin immediately.
- Avoid touching your face, including your eyes, nose or mouth
- Staff do regular cleaning of high touch surfaces throughout the day
- Cleaning of the entire school every night
- Staff and students stay home if sick
We work hard every day to make our school a safe place.

3. Sunnybrae Road Construction and Delays
|
The Sunnybrae Road Construction will be moving closer to school from next week. If you are driving to and from school please plan travel in advance as there may be some delays. Please stick to the lowered speed limit around the school and roadworks site. If you are walking, please stay well away from the coned off areas. Some footpaths may be closed but alternative routes will be provided. Traffic controllers will be onsite to assist pedestrians if required.
|
|
4. Positive Behaviour for Learning
|
Next week our lessons will focus on using independence in the playgrounds and on the fields.
Our lessons will focus on:
- Choosing safe and sensible places to play
|
|
|
Our first week of Year 3, 4, 5 & 6 basketball coaching started this week! Great to see sport return to some normality and fingers crossed we see plenty of healthy competitive court time this year. Please make sure that you turn up for practises, and advise your coach if you are unable to make it!
