Sport

Due to COVID-19 this document may need to be updated when it is clearer how School Sport will proceed under the restricted conditions.

We are looking forward to another exciting sporting year at Sunnybrae. Below is a list of the sports that will be offered during the year, along with the teacher that you can contact if you have any questions. Thank you to those who volunteered to coach and manage last year; we truly appreciate your assistance. Now is the time to start thinking about whether you can help out this year by coaching or managing. We will support you in any way that we can, however without a volunteer to coach, we are unable to enter teams into the various competitions. Sport can provide a sense of belonging to a group and a community. Team sports encourage and develop leadership skills, cooperation, commitment and an ability to work with others to achieve a goal. Respecting the Fair Play Expectations is always a critical element of our sports programme.

All sports, except flippa ball and Senior basketball, are played in a Sunnybrae sports t-shirt, which can be purchased from NZ Uniform, 19A Douglas Alexander Parade, Rosedale, North Shore, 0632. Please talk with your child about which sports they would like to get involved with this year and encourage them to have a go. If there are other sporting codes that your child is interested in playing, please contact Sheryle Snellaert with the information and she can see if there is enough interest to put a team together. Please do not hesitate to contact Sheryle or Mary if you have any questions.
